The NSS Unit celebrated the 78th Independence Day on Thursday, August 15,2024, in the college Chowk area. Volunteers initiated the “Har Ghar TirangaCampaign” as per the directives of the NSS Unit, the University of Mumbai,and the Central Government. Activities undertaken were as follows.
Indoor activity- At college Salute to the Tricolour and sing patriotic songs. Street play in the college
Outdoor activity- Street play in Poisar slum pockets. A Tiranga Rally of 175–150 students was initiated from college to Thakur Village and back.
Donate Blood, Donate Life!
NSS Unit in association with Lions Club of Mumbai, Mahavir Nagar and SVC Bank, Kandivali (East) organized Blood Donation Camp on Wednesday, 31st July 2024 in the college basement area. Donors were alumni, teaching and non-teaching staff and nearby vicinity citizens. The day was an opportunity to thank voluntary, unpaid blood donors for their life-saving gifts of blood in the form of 219 blood bags which was handed over to MeenaTai Thackeray Blood Bank.
International Drug Free day was observed on Wednesday, 26th June 2024. In context of this, a session titled “Drug-Free World: Our Commitment” was organized on Thursday, 27th June 2024 at 11.00 am in the Mini Auditorium (Block no. 706). The guest speaker for the session was Mr Ravsaheb Mote, Project Manager, Child Help Foundation, Mumbai. He sensitized the students on the ill-effects of drug consumption, types of drugs available and aftermath of drug consumption. 78 students benefited from this session.
The NSS Unit of Nirmala Memorial Foundation College of Commerce & Science organized International Yoga Day on Friday, 21st June, 2024 in Nirmala Hall. The session was guided by Ms. Bindu Yadav and her team, from Vedas Yoga. There were 82 participants and they were engaged in various yoga asanas. The session was organized with a view to promote healthy lifestyle by practicing yoga in everyday life. The session was highly appreciated by the audience.

11 NSS volunteers participated in a university level event, Book Release-Grace, Glory and Gafe-India’s Northeastern Region@75, organized on Saturday 2nd March 2024. The Chief Guest was Thiru. R.N. Ravi, guest Governor of Tamil Nadu. The book release was an initiative by the Forum for Integrated National Security. India’s Northeastern Region (NER) is important for both security and political reasons. It is a complex territory in terms of the heterogeneity of its population and also due to the various disputes over interstate boundaries and sharing of resources. NSS volunteers were sensitized to this complex territory and its relevance to India.

28 NSS volunteers participated in the beach cleaning drive on Sunday, 25th February, 2024, at Cater Road, Bandra. The drive is covered under the ‘Swachha Vasundhara Abhiyaan’. Volunteers removed plastic and other waste which was entangled in the mangroves. A total of 52 waste bags were collected by them. The objective of the drive is to promote clean beaches and save the
environment.

45 NSS volunteers participated in the beach cleaning drive on Republic day, Friday, 26th January 2024 at Cater Road, Bandra. The drive is covered under the ‘Swachha Vasundhara Abhiyaan’. Volunteers removed plastic and other waste which was entangled in the mangroves. A total of 25 waste bags were collected by them. Volunteers also performed street-play on the Bandra station to create awareness about the importance of a clean city.

47 NSS volunteers participated in the Tata Mumbai Marathon, organized on Sunday, 21st January 2024 at Churchgate to support the runners. The volunteers on behalf of the Child Health Foundation highlighted the importance of youth and youth education during the marathon. The objective of participating in this event was to serve a corporate house to organize social events.
Just say ‘No’ to plastic
NSS volunteers collected 28 kg of plastic from the nearby co-operative housing societies and retail shops and donated it to the Aakar Mumbai recycling company. The activity was undertaken on Friday, 19th January 2024. The objective was to reduce plastic waste and protect the environment.
E-rase your E-waste
NSS volunteers started an E-waste disposal campaign with the intention of reducing, reusing and recycling the e-waste. The drive was undertaken on Saturday, 20th January 2024. The e-waste collected was given to Threco Recycling Company for recycling.
Be someone’s lifeline, donate blood
NSS Unit organized a second Blood Donation Camp in association with Tata Memorial Hospital. The event took place on Thursday, 18th January 2024 in the college basement area. The objective of the camp was to support 50,000 cancer patients in need of blood transfusion. 69 volunteers participated in this event and successfully collected 165 blood bags. The blood donors included current students, alumni, teaching and non-teaching staff, parents and people from nearby areas.
Not me, But you
NSS Unit organized a residential camp from Monday, 18th December 2023 to Sunday, 24th December 2023 at Hamrapur Village, Wada-Marol Road, Thane to acquaint the volunteers with the real life experience of the village. 50 volunteers were part of this camp along with the Programme Officer Mr. Rishabh Desai. The activities undertaken were as follows:
Day 1: 18th December 2023
Volunteers were briefed about the camp rules and regulations and teams were formed. Mime on social issues was organized by the volunteers to sensitize the group. Team building games were also organized.
Day 2: 19th December 2023
The day started with yoga and exercise, followed by vanrai bandhara. Along with this, a swachhta rally was organized to sensitize the locals.
Day 3: 20th December 2023
Vanrai bandhara was completed and there was a session on street play by Mr. Jagdish Sansare to acquaint the volunteers with street play rules and regulations.
Day 4: 21st December 2023
Soak Pit was formed at two locations in the village so that the villagers could benefit from it. There was a session on Bachat Badhat Nirdesh by Ms. Vaishali Shinde. Volunteers also interacted with the school children, and they were sensitized on the effects of substance abuse.
Day 5: 22nd December 2023
Tree plantation activity was undertaken by the volunteers to promote the message of a green and clean environment. A Swachhta rally was organized for the villagers.
Day 6: 23rd December 2023
The day begins with yoga and exercise. A toy library was set up for the local children. Sharing with care was undertaken by donating the clothes, eatables and other things to the locals.
Day 7: 24th December 2023
The volunteers visited Govardhan eco-village to be close to nature and nurture the sense of environment conservation responsibility. NSS Unit was felicitated by the Gram Panchayat of the village.

The run was in Dattani Park, Kandivali (East). The objective of the run was to
promote education for children.

5 NSS volunteers attended a one-day conference on ‘The Problem of Rupee: Its Origin and Its Solutions’ on Sunday, 26th November, 2023 at University of Mumbai, Fort. The conference chief guest was the honourable Chief Minister Shri Eknath Shinde. Volunteers recited the National anthem and Rastriya Geet. Conference highlighted values and fundamentals of the Constitution, efforts of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar in framing the Constitution of India and the problem of rupee: origin and solutions in order to survive in the global market. Volunteers learned the importance of the constitution.
Give e-waste a second chance, recycle for Sustainable Development!
19 NSS volunteers undertook an E-waste collection awareness drive on Monday, 6th November, 2023 in the nearby 31 Co-operative Housing Societies in order to sensitize people about effective disposal and recycling of e-waste. The objective was to promote awareness about recycling e-waste and creating a clean environment.
Great Warrior and Strategist- Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
3 NSS volunteers attended a lecture by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Founder of the Indian Navy, on Tuesday,31st October 2023, at the University of Mumbai, Fort. The Vice-chancellor and Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University of Mumbai were also present for the lecture. The guest speaker was Prof. (Dr) Mr.Ajit Bhonsle, an Air Force Officer, in the Aviation Sector. The objective of the lecture was to make the volunteers realize the importance of a strong navy and how Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj contributed to building a strong navy by constructing multiple naval bases along the coast of the Maharashtra region.

43 NSS volunteers participated in the beach cleaning drive on Sunday, 6th November 2023, at Cater Road, Bandra. The drive is covered under the ‘Swachha Vasundhara Abhiyaan’. Volunteers cleared plastic and other waste that was entangled in the mangroves. A total of 27 waste bags were collected by them. The objective of the drive is to promote clean beaches and save the environment.
Educate them, Uplift them.NSS volunteers teach students in the slum pockets of Poisar area, Kandivali. It's an activity which is undertaken with the motto of spreading education in society. A few days a week, two to three volunteers go to teach students in the Poisar area under the initiative of Vidhyaarpan.

The drive is covered under the Nirmal Sagar campaign of the NSS unit of the college. 11 volunteers participated in the drive. The motto is to promote clean beaches and a better environment.
Waste isn’t waste until we waste.NSS Unit, in association with the Indian Pollution Control Department, organized a street play on the segregation of waste on Thursday, 12th October 2023 in the college Chowk area. The Indian Pollution Control Department donated a waste compost bin to the college. The waste compost bin is donated with the objective of segregating biodegradable waste and recycling it. 53 volunteers attended this session.
Composting improves soil health and lessens erosion. NSS Unit, in collaboration with the Indian Pollution Control Association, organized a session on “Waste Composting” on Monday, 9th October 2023.The objective of the session was to give insight into dry, wet and hazardous waste and its segregation in different trash bins. The session was followed by game activity to bring clarity among the participants about the disposal method of the waste. 43 volunteers attended the session.
Non-violence is a summit of bravery. International Day of Non-violence is observed on 2nd October on account of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti. The Bhajan Sandhya Programme was organised on Monday, 2nd October 2023 by the NSS Unit of the University of Mumbai. This programme included prayer, bhajans and peace songs. 23 NSS volunteers attended Bhajan Sandhya along with the Programme Officer, Mr Rishabh Desai.

volunteers celebrated NSS week from Sunday, 24th September 2023 to
Saturday, 30th September 2023 by undertaking various activities as per the
guidelines of the University of Mumbai.
Day1 -24th September 2023
Volunteers conducted a program at SRPF camp, Jogeshwari, in order to
entertain the police force there. They undertook activities like singing and
playing musical instruments. They also organised a cleanliness awareness drive
in the Poisar area, Kandivali. 24 volunteers participated in this activity.
Day 2-25th September 2023
Volunteers participated in ganpati immersion activities in association with
Samata Nagar Police. 28 volunteers participated in crowd and traffic control
activities.
Day 3-26th September 2023
Volunteers participated in an Orgami craft activity which was conducted by Ms.
Ashmita Dabholkar, Member of Inner Wheel Club, Mumbai.This activity was
attended by 29 volunteers and it was undertaken to observe International Peace
Day.
Day 4-27th September 2023
Volunteers organized and participated in a street play “Nukkad Natak”, in order
to create awareness about health, road safety, cleanliness, gender equality, etc.

Day 5-28th September 2023
The Child Help Foundation organised an online session on “Gender
Sensitisation”. The speaker was Ms. Ria Noronha. She sensitised volunteers by
narrating cases of female foeticide and the importance of children in society. 52
volunteers attended this online session.
Day 6-29th September 2023
Volunteers organised the Plastic Free Society Drive in order to create awareness
about the harmful effects of using plastic bags and other plastic materials. 21
Volunteers visited various buildings and stores and explained the importance of
a plastic-free environment and also collected plastic from them.
Day 7-30th September 2023
University organised a rally from Azad Maidan to the Gateway of India. The
theme was Nasha Mukta Bharat. The idea was to promote awareness about the
ill-effects of addiction. 24 Volunteers actively participated in this rally. 6
volunteers along with Programme Officer Mr. Rishabh Desai visited Daherjee
village, Vikramgad, Maharashtra to donate wash basins, clothes, utensils, toys,etc
Swachhta Hi Seva,Swachh Bharat, Sundar Bharat!
NSS volunteers participated in Maha Swachhta Abhiyan, a mass-cleaning campaign organized on Sunday, 1st October 2023 at Damu Nagar, Akurli Road, Kandivali East, and at Kalina Campus, University of Mumbai. They also undertook a beach cleaning drive under the ‘Swachhta Hi Seva Programme’ at Carter Road, Bandra West. The idea was to promote awareness of cleanliness and a better life. 38 volunteers participated in these activities.
Ganpati Immersion Ganpati Bappa Mourya!
Volunteers in association with Samata Nagar Police Station undertook crowd-controlling activities during the 1.5 days, 5 days, and 7 days Ganpati Immersionprocession which was from Wednesday, 20th September 2023 to Monday, 25th September 2023 in the Kandivali area. 35 volunteers participated in this activity with a lot of enthusiasm. Volunteers learned team-building and problem-solving skills while undertaking this social activity.
Clean City Life! Participated in a clean city rally organized by Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation(MBMC)on Sunday, 17th September, 2023. The objective of the rally was to create awareness about the importance of keeping the city clean and hygienic. 58 volunteers participated in this rally.
Go Green! Students of the college organized a No Plastic Drive titled “Don’t be elastic, Say no to plastic” from Tuesday, 12th September 2023 to Thursday, 14th September 2023 from 7.30 am to 1.00 pm. College students participated in the drive and collected plastic waste in the form of plastic bags, milk bags, and bottles. A total of 26 kg of hard plastic and 29 kg of soft plastic was collected and given to the recycling company. The objective of the drive was to inculcate the habit of recycling, reusing, and reducing plastic use and adopt the Go Green concept for sustainable development.
Red Run Marathon Run for good! NSS volunteers participated in the “Run to End Aids'' Red Run Marathon organised by Mumbai Districts Aids Control Society (MDACS), Wadala (West) on Sunday, 10th September, 2023.15 volunteers participated in the marathon run and controlled the traffic and crowd.
Students voluntarily participated in the beach cleaning drive on Sunday, 27th August, 2023 at Cater Road, Bandra. 52 volunteers participated in the drive and collected 50 bags of waste. The motto is to promote clean beaches and a better environment.

3 NSS volunteers attended the Youth Manifesto (University level event) organized by Lala Lajpat Rai College, Mahalakshmi on Saturday, 26th August, 2023. This program gave glimpses of the environmental challenges faced by Mumbai city and the role of youth in protecting the environment.

NSS volunteers on Friday, 25th August, 2023, took an initiative of collecting plastic from college and nearby areas. 51 Kg of plastic was collected and given to the recycling company. The objective of the initiative was to have a plastic free environment and promote sustainable development.
Small Bite, Big Threat!
NSS volunteers undertook a Dengue and Malaria awareness campaign from Monday, 21st August 2023 to Thursday, 24th August 2023 on the mark of World Mosquito Day, which is observed on 20th August every year. In four days, volunteers and BMC officers identified the common breeding grounds of mosquitoes and went door-to-door covering 170 houses in 29 chawls of Poisar area, Kandivali (East) to create awareness about dengue and malaria diseases and ways to prevent these vector-borne diseases.

NSS volunteers collected e-waste items on Friday, August 18, 2023. 201.95 kg of e-waste were collected and submitted to Threco Recycling LLP. E-waste included metal, light fuse, headphones, and other mixed items. E-waste was collected from the administrative office and computer laboratories of the college. The e-waste management campaign is a regular activity that was started with the intention of reducing, reusing, and recycling e-waste.
The DLLE Department and the NSS Unit, along with the sister concerns of the college, held the tricolour and love for the country aloft for Independence Day celebrations on Tuesday, 15th August, 2023 in the college. Members of both DLLE and NSS assembled in the college premises early in the morning to mark the glorious occasion of India’s 76th Independence Day. The programme commenced with the March Past followed by the unfurling of the national flag by college authorities. A host of cultural programmes comprisingSkitsPatriotic songs dance performancesSpeechesdepicting India’s freedom struggle, sacrifices andpatriotism were held on the occasion. The DLLE and NSS members rendered active support in the organisation of the celebration.
“Fight Dengue and Malaria, Save Lives”
The NSS Unit of the college organized a seminar on Dengue and Malaria awareness on Saturday, 12th August 2023. The seminar highlighted dengue and malaria growth stages in the clean as well as unhygienic water. The growth of the bacteria and procedures of how it spreads rapidly in the vicinity. 47 participants attended the seminar. The objective of the seminar was to create awareness about hygiene to be maintained, and prevention efforts, including mosquito control and personal protection, in order to reduce the spread of the diseases.
Say No to AIDS
2 NSS volunteers attended the RRC Training Seminar (Awareness on HIV/AIDS) organized by Mumbai Districts AIDS Control Society, Wadala in association with the University of Mumbai on Saturday, 12th August, 2023. The objective was to learn ways to control AIDS and precautions to be taken to prevent HIV infection.

NSS Unit celebrated Independence Day on Wednesday, 15th August, 2023 at BMC Hospital, JanKalyan Nagar, Malad. NSS volunteers undertook tree plantation at BMC hospital, Malad. They took oath for good health and well-being and created public awareness through play and slogans.
‘Meri Mati, Mera Desh’
NSS Unit celebrated Pre-Independence Day on Monday, 14th August 2023 under the theme ‘Meri Mati, Mera Desh’ by playing patriotic songs and displaying the tri-color in the chowk. The Panch-Pran Pledge was taken by NSS volunteers to show their patriotism towards the nation.

NSS Unit of Nirmala Memorial Foundation College of Commerce and Science organized a seminar on Skin Donation awareness on Saturday, 12th August, 2023. The seminar gave insights on the importance of skin donation, the procedure of skin transplant to the needy and how the donor’s skin is frozen and stored for a long period of time (about five years) in the skin bank. 41 NSS volunteers were part of this seminar. The objective was to educate the volunteers about the importance of skin donation as skin is the largest organ in the human body.

NSS Unit of Nirmala Memorial Foundation College of Commerce and Science in association with Lions Club of Mumbai, Mahavir Nagar organized Blood Donation Camp on Thursday, 10th August, 2023 in the college basement area. Preparatory work for the day was a bandwagon as volunteers did class wise promotion in the college, visited 12 co-operative housing societies, 8 hospitals and 24 shops in the vicinity to create the awareness about Blood Donation Drive. There were in all 253 blood bags collected and handed over to the MeenaTai Thackeray Blood Bank. This was the highest count ever. Volunteers took great efforts to achieve the target. The blood donors included current students, alumni, teaching and non-teaching staff, parents and people from nearby vicinity. The day was an opportunity to thank voluntary, unpaid blood donors for their life-saving gifts of blood.
NSS volunteers of Nirmala Memorial Foundation College of Commerce & Science attended a Plenary Talk on ‘Indian Knowledge System (IKS) : Time to Reclaim the Lost Ground?’under NEP 2020 Implementation Celebration Week organised by University of Mumbai NEP Cell, UGC HRDC and IQAC in collaboration with RUSA, Maharashtra on Monday, 24 July, 2023 at the Green Technology Auditorium, Vidyanagari, Kalina, Santacruz (East), University of Mumbai.
The talk was on the impact of New Education Policy (NEP) on the current knowledge dissemination system of the university and how this NEP will help in skill based and choice based learning of the learners. Two NSS volunteers attended the session at the university.
NSS Unit organized orientation for the first year students of all the programmes with the view to brief them about the motto of NSS “Not me but you”. Orientation was held on Thursday, 20th July, 2023.
Students were highlighted with the knowledge of the NSS logo, its importance and the various activities undertaken by the volunteers in the unit. 133 students attended the orientation.

The drive was undertaken on Sunday, 4th June 2023. 17 NSS volunteers cleared the land area and planted trees. The idea was to take steps towards a greener and sustainable environment.

The NSS unit of Nirmala Memorial Foundation College celebrated World Environment Day on Monday, 5th June, 2023 by organizing a Verim- Compost Segregation event led by four dedicated volunteers.
Their Goal was to produce nutrient-rich compost to promote eco-friendly practices and sustainable waste management. Carefully removing the compost from the vermi- composting bin, they skillfully segregated the mature compost from unprocessed materials, ensuring only high-quality compost remained. This eco-friendly initiative actively contributes to the local ecosystem’s betterment and fosters healthy plant growth.
LIVE LIFE, GIVE LIFE! NSS volunteers of Nirmala Memorial Foundation College of Commerce & Science promoted the concept of ORGAN DONATION by forming human chains and saying slogans. The activity was undertaken on Thursday, 3rd August 2023 as per the directives of University of Mumbai.
The idea was promoted by making posters and displaying at the key points in the college. 19 volunteers were part of today’s event. This was observed to raise awareness about the importance of organ donation and make people aware of the misconceptions of organ donation.
On Thursday, April 27, 2023, The NSS volunteers travelled to Appapada, where a fire had broken out, to assess the situation. This initiative provided food and other essentials to the locals in need.
Their delivery included FMCG like 100 buckets that was collected during the donation drive, 6 boxes of biscuits, 1 box of soap.
The University of Mumbai had organised an event of Nrutyavishakar, the students of Mauritius (marathi cultural program) at "Green Technology Auditorium” University of Mumbai, Vidyanagari, Kalina campus" Mumbai.
The event commenced with a speech on how to build up confidence, about the camp and a few things about NSS. Later a few volunteers showed their talents on the dias. The University of Mumbai has now completed 165 years and has received A++ award. Refreshments were also provided for the students after which students performed and later laid out our marathi culture not only within the boundaries but also beyond them.
Quiz Competition on HIV/AIDS, Treatment, Stigma and Discrimination and on other topics such as Social Media, TB, Coronavirus took place. The quiz consisted of 3 rounds in which the first round was a written test and second was the quiz round and a final quiz round. Volunteers had a great experience participating in the competition.
The NSS unit of Nirmala Memorial Foundation College of Commerce and Science has announced this event on 31st October 2022.
It will be held near Nirmala Memorial Foundation College of Commerce and Science, 90 ft road, Kandivali.
The event started at 10.00am. The NSS volunteers gathered before the event timing around 9.45 am. The idea of the event was to do a unity run in the area itself. The NSS unit incharge and other senior volunteers were present there. The person in-charge ordered all volunteers to form a proper line. The senior announced that we have to hold the NSS banner and walk in a line while saying out few slogans about the nation and spreading a positive message about having unity amongst the people. Also, there were students of Thakur college present there who were NSS volunteers as well.
They joined us in the run and said their slogans too. We took one round of the area shouting slogans, spreading a positive message about the nation for about 30 mins.
After the run, we stopped at our college gate assembled in a line to say the pledge. The pledge was started by one of the senior volunteers and repeated by the other volunteers. With the pledge, we ended our unity run and left the premise with goodwill and a strong mindset..
On the occasion of nss unit from nirmala memorial foundation college of commerce and science has conducted Mega clean-up drive at 90 feet road, poisar. Volunteers reached the given location by 11:50 a.m.
After reaching the location, all the volunteers were divided into 4 groups.

The NSS unit of Nirmala College went to Cater Road Beach, Bandra for Beach Cleaning.
There were a total of 18 volunteers for this Event. After reaching the destination we met Jallosh Group Members and Mangroves Plantation members along with whom we organise and carried out beach cleaning event and they gave us instructions regarding today's event that what and how we have to clean beach and we were informed to collect plastic as Mangroves trees were mostly covered with plastic waste. Then they provided us masks,gloves and bags to collect waste.
Along with us there were even more volunteers from other colleges. We explored the place and collected as much plastic as possible from Mangroves trees as well as along the shore of the beach. There were alot of small crabs. Volunteers enjoyed the Sunday morning and were surrounded by Nature and did work for Nature's Conservation.
The NSS unit of Nirmala Memorial Foundation College of Commerce and Science has organised an activity of Smile Foundation on 14th October, 2022.On this day 12-13 volunteers went to poisar for teaching and playing some games with the children of poor community. All the volunteers reached the location at 2:00pm.
When we reached the site we found a bus over there and were asked to sit in it. That bus was called a SMILING BUS. It was the bus where we were supposed to teach or play games with kids. Then they took us to visit the community. The people staying there are in very bad and poor condition. There was scarcity of water,food,etc.
The Mumbai Smile Foundation has helped the children of this community and many similar by spreading awareness and providing basic necessities like stationary or study materials.
The only motive of this foundation was to prevent Human trafficking by spreading awareness and by means of education.
The NSS Unit of NIRMALA MEMORIAL FOUNDATION COLLEGE , went to POISAR to perform a small skit of 15 min on HUMANIST MOVEMENT. One of the slogans by Gandhi ji" मानव मानव à¤à¤• समान " It says we, humans are equal . Volunteers were also shrilling out slogans.
Volunteers were divided into groups. Each group had conversations with locals about non violence (अहिंसा) and explained to them about its impact and ways to avoid violence in our society. Along with this ,volunteers also spoke about gender inequality faced in our society.
Many people showed great support by scanning QR Code related to showing support towards non-violence.
The NSS Unit of NIRMALA MEMORIAL FOUNDATION COLLEGE , went to kandivali station to perform a small skit of 15 min on HUMANIST MOVEMENT. The volunteers selected for skit prepared that skit for hours. They want is not a patched up thing but a union of hearts based upon a definite recognition of the indubitable proposition that Swaraj for India must be an impossible dream without an indissoluble union between the Hindus and Muslims of India. It must not be a mere truce. It cannot be based upon mutual fear. It must be a partnership between equals, each respecting the religion of the other. So the story line was like A Hindu family and a muslim family fighting by pointing out each other's flaws. A community which follows both Hindu and Muslim comes in picture and makes them realise their mistake by saying " ना हिनà¥à¤¦à¥‚ बनो ना मà¥à¤¸à¤²à¤®à¤¾à¤¨ बनो, पहले à¤à¤• अचà¥à¤›à¤¾ इंसान बनो '' It says humanity comes first. Volunteers were also shrilling out slogans . And that skit was performed 3 times, 2 times on kandivali west station and 1 time on kandivali west station.
The NSS unit of Nirmala Memorial Foundation College of Commerce And Science has announced this event on 1st of October 2022. It was held in Azad Maiden of Gateway of India.
The event started at 2:30pm . Before that, all volunteers of NSS had gathered at 2:00. The event was about Nasha Mukat Bharat.
After that we had a unity run of NSS unit . While we were walking in the rally we had a very powerful slogan that we spoke together in Unity. Then further the event ended at 5:00pm ,Before that we had pledged. One of our unit's seniors had spoken the pledge and we volunteers had repeated that pledge spoken by the senior. At the end of the event we had our NSS clap with great cheer and a very good mindset.....!
On the occasion of World Cleanup day the NSS unit from Nirmala Memorial Foundation College of commerce and science conducted a beach cleanup drive at Carter Road , Bandra.Volunteers reached the given location by 7.30 a.m. After reaching the location, all the volunteers were divided into groups . Senior volunteers gave us instructions about cleaning the beach. We were told to mainly collect plastic as the mangroves were mostly covered with plastic waste Gloves and bags were provided to the NSS volunteers to collect the garbage. We started beach clean up. Over 2.5 tons of plastic waste was collected.
After once we are done with it we got gift hampers by DABUR INDIA which were received by all NSS volunteers. Kanishka Kapoor also visited this beach cleanup drive.
On the occasion of new beginnings and New normal, One event got conducted at CWC school ground, yari road, Versova. 11 volunteers were needed!! And our honourable governor Shri bhagat singh koshiyari felicitated NSS volunteers who did exemplary work during pandemic. NSS cell , University of Mumbai also got Felicitated!! Volunteers reached the given location by 2:00 pm.
After reaching the location we all got assembled in the hall! The event was going to held on the ground but due to weather change we had to shift the location to the hall!
We enjoyed the whole event in the new normal way that was online..
Link got shared and we were supposed to acknowledge it through that!! Afterwards we sang NSS song followed by Nss clap.
It was a good session to hear and also a proud moment!!
Lastly the event got over at 6pm. All NSS volunteers received refreshments at the end of the event!
NSS unit in association with Mumbai Police and Traffic Department of Mumbai conducted Ganpati Immersion Program on the days of Ganpati Immersion on crowded places of Mumbai.
Most of the Volunteers of NSS, participated in a program where all helped mumbai police and Traffic Police officers.
Especially, all the volunteers were placed with the help of Mumbai police. All work at the places full of Traffic and crowd and where Ganpati Statue is immersed.
NSS unit of Nirmala Memorial Foundation college of commerce and science in collaboration with The Lions Club organised a Blood Donation Camp on 22th of august 2022. It was held in the college basement.
Total 74 volunteers actively participated in this Event. Total 189 blood bags were collected.
Blood donation Drive began with the Lamp Lighting. As the event began volunteers were helping the Donors as well as Members of Lion club. The donor's were given some refreshments along with a certificate and a Donor's Card. Ex Volunteers of NSS unit also participated in this Drive.
Event ends with great cheer and a positive mindset.
The NSS unit of our college had organised Independence Day in the college.
In all 60 volunteers were actively present for the celebration, the students of the school performed march past followed by flag hoisting which was done by principal Ma'am and the national anthem was sung.
Later singing , dances were performed by the student’s of our college.The Nss song was also sung by all the Nss students.
Sweets were distributed and the event ended up with happy and smiling faces.
The "Tiranga Rally" was organised by University of Mumbai at Sports complex, Kalina Campus, Santacruz on the occasion of "75 Years of Independence" so everyone present there was holding the National Flag with great enthusiasm. The event started at 11:00 am by flag hoisting and national anthem. More than 700 NSS volunteers from different colleges and faculties of campus had participated in the event.
The rally begin by holding a 9 feet wide and 320 feet long National Flag by the volunteers and marching in the campus. It was a great, energetic and proud moment for us remembering the importance of Freedom ,the Sacrifices made by Freedom Fighters,and completion of our 75th independence.
The event came to an end with a small thanks giving speech to all the participants and distribution of refreshments to all volunteers. It was a joyous opportunity to be a part of the Tiranga Rally.
NSS unit of Nirmala Memorial Foundation College of Commerce and Science celebrated Raksha Bandhan along with Orphan Boys of Don Bosco school/orphanage. Event started by tying rakhi on their hands by female volunteers. On the other hand the male volunteers were Interacting with the kids and made them Play some Games and few Boys showed their talent in the form of Song,Rap,etc. At the end of day they were really happy and seemed satisfied.
The event "Ek Sur Ek Taal '' was about Patriotic songs we sang in different languages such as marathi, Hindi , Punjabi, Gujarati , Tamil,Telugu. We also came to know about the other cultures and we danced on the songs with volunteers of other colleges. We also got refreshments after the event.
The patriotic songs were played on various instrument. It was one of the best experiences to attend this event .
On 4th August 2022, there were 4 volunteers from 2nd year who went for a coastal cleanup event. The session was refreshing and knowledgeable. We gained lots of knowledge. It was in R.D.National college which is located in Bandra. We went to bandra station by train and then we walked. When we reached the college they told us to register.
The event "HIV Aids peer training workshop at Mdac " was about the symptoms of HIV / Aids. And the method and materials and prevention of HIV / AIDS is as easy as ABC.

HIV can be prevented through sensitization and creating awareness among the people and its adverse effects on family and society. It was a beautiful opportunity to attend this event.
On 8th of July there was an inauguration of a new building which was held by the University of Mumbai in Santacruz . There were many other NSS students from different colleges. For the inauguration the chief guest was MR. Bhagat Singh koshiyari (Governor of Maharashtra) and many other guests . They taught us the importance of knowledge and power of study and also guided us for the future.
NSS unit of Nirmala college the college organised 5 days civil defence training for Students. From July to July. Two experts came and taught students how to Respond to an Incident such as Earthquake or any other Natural Calamity. They explained to students that in any incident such as Earthquake instead of getting tense and worried, we should respond to it calmly. They taught students about how to make different types of notes.If the earthquake happens how to save themselves as well as other people's life.
They teach Students how to tie different types of Knots in rope for any Difficult Situation.
They explained the importance of civil defence training.They taught students about different types of fire and how to Respond to them.
On the last day of training they took written as well as practical exams for Students.
The NSS Unit of Nirmala memorial foundation college celebrated a yoga day on 21st june 2022 on the occasion of International Yoga Day in college campus. Large number of students attend the session. As the session began, volunteers were given a brief introduction and importance of yoga in everyday life .They taught us how to treat our body with various relaxing movements and guided our mind with thoughts of strength, stability and gained some knowledge about yoga in depth. There were various yoga asanas that were taught to students. Overall the experience was blissful.The event ended with a vote of thanks by one of the NSS Volunteers.
Yoga Session was organised by Brahma Kumari's at Prabhu Upvan on account of International Yoga Day. 5 Volunteers of Nirmala Memorial Foundation College's NSS Unit reached the venue by 9:45 AM. The event started at 10:00 AM. The speaker gave information about the history of Yoga, benefits of Yoga, etc. Then we proceeded to do some asanas and guided meditation.
Basic Beginner level asanas were taught to us, such as Tadasana, Vrikshasana, Kursiasna, Naukasana, Bhujangasana. Body felt very relaxed after the yogas. Then we proceeded to do guided meditation. Volunteers did meditation according to the instructions given. Mind felt very relaxed and mindful after it. Afterwards, we were given snacks. And it ended.
This event was a very beautiful opportunity to learn about Yoga and it's benefits also about Mediation and how it relaxes our mind.
The NSS unit of Nirmala college in collaboration with Jallosh carried out an Beach cleaning Drive at Juhu beach. Total 12 volunteers attend this event. Jallosh team instructed and guided volunteers where and how they have to collect Garbage.Then they provided us mask, gloves and bags to collect dry and wet waste. Then we collected a lot of waste with the help of team Jallosh. We found a lot of garbage such as dangerous object, sticks , cigarette, huts, and some wasted food stuff... Etc. All the volunteers enjoyed the event with the team Jallosh and made the beach look good.
The NSS UNIT of Nirmala Memorial Foundation College, Kandivali East had organised an activity of SAPLING DONATION DRIVE on 5th June, 2022 at Manori .
A total of 12 volunteers took part in this activity.
Total 50 saplings were donated during the activity. Volunteers also visited temples of Gagangiri Maharaj . Our Programme officer shared some interesting facts about the temple and the history behind it. Volunteers showed great interest and grasped every possible knowledge they could get .The activity for the day came to an end with a few games and lunch provided to the volunteers. Students were pleased with the knowledge they gained.
The NSS unit of Nirmala College went to Cater Road Beach, Bandra for Beach Cleaning.
There were a total of 18 volunteers for this Event. After reaching the destination we met Jallosh Group Members and Mangroves Plantation members along with whom we organise and carried out beach cleaning event and they gave us instructions regarding today's event that what and how we have to clean beach and we were informed to collect plastic as Mangroves trees were mostly covered with plastic waste. Then they provided us masks,gloves and bags to collect waste.
Along with us there were even more volunteers from other colleges. We explored the place and collected as much plastic as possible from Mangroves trees as well as along the shore of the beach. Civil defence seminar was conducted by the NSS department of Nirmala Memorial Foundation College of Commerce and Science on 22th april 2022 . The speaker for the seminar was Mr.Rajendra B. Lad The seminar started with a brief introduction about Mr Rajendra B. Lad and was given by one of the volunteers of NSS Varad Patil who is also a leader of the NSS . The speaker Mr. Rajendra B. Lad started with a brief introduction about civil defence,. disaster and their types. Students were also explained how a small incident can be converted into a disaster and how you as a student can help during such incidents. Mr. Rajendra B. Lad also taught the students different techniques of tying ropes which can be useful during incidents. Students were really satisfied and they enjoyed the session upto their cores. During the question and answer round doubts of students were solved with proper explanation. The seminar ended with some few pointers given by Mr Rishabh Desai, a program officer of NSS.
Nss unit in association with BMC conducted Vruksha Sanjeevani Abhiyan on Tuesday , 19th April 2022. Altogether 28 volunteers participated in the walk where tree conservation activity was carried out.
Especially the road side trees were focused as they were highly neglected.
Removing concrete, nail free trees were few initiatives of this Abhiyan , also cutting down of trees was highlighted to avoid environment degradation . The environment cleaning drive was also considered
We had a Seminar in our College regarding E-Waste Management. It was organised by NSS unit. Seminar was held in offline mode in college premises. In the seminar students were explained how E-waste affects our Environment as well as the health of Animals as well as Human beings. In the Beginning Students were shown One picture basically That institution's Logo and Students were asked what they understood after they saw the Logo. In the centre of Logo there was one Smiling face surrounded by Nature's Elements like Leave,Sun, Mountain,Water,etc and On the outer side around the Nature's Elements there was E-waste. There were few volunteers who saw that Smiling face in the centre of the Logo and understood that People are safe and happy by Nature. During Seminar Students were briefly explained that What E-waste is and how harmful it is for Our Environment as well as our Health if they are not decomposed properly. Students were even explained how instead of throwing E-waste they can Recycle it. In Seminar they showed students how their Institution Collects E-waste and properly segregates the Metal,Plastic and Glass elements from E-waste and further sends it for Recycling. Even They informed Us That how There Team Comes To collect E-waste in People's Doorstep do Collect it and further they send it for E-waste disposal in Proper and systematic manner. We Even Discussed How Can We Spread Awareness Among People About Electronic Waste & How Can We Make Are Planet And Environment Better And Safe For The Upcoming Generation .After This Seminar We Came To Know A Lot About Electronic Waste .
So NSS volunteers Decided To Collect E-Waste From Are College Students & Staff for their Proper Disposal. This Was A Small Step Which Students Took For Our Environment.
The NSS unit of Nirmala Memorial Foundation College of Commerce and Science has announced this event on 31st October 2022.
It will be held near Nirmala Memorial Foundation College of Commerce and Science, 90 ft road, Kandivali.
The event started at 10.00am. The NSS volunteers gathered before the event timing around 9.45 am. The idea of the event was to do a unity run in the area itself. The NSS unit incharge and other senior volunteers were present there. The person in-charge ordered all volunteers to form a proper line. The senior announced that we have to hold the NSS banner and walk in a line while saying out few slogans about the nation and spreading a positive message about having unity amongst the people. Also, there were students of Thakur college present there who were NSS volunteers as well.
They joined us in the run and said their slogans too. We took one round of the area shouting slogans, spreading a positive message about the nation for about 30 mins.
After the run, we stopped at our college gate assembled in a line to say the pledge. The pledge was started by one of the senior volunteers and repeated by the other volunteers. With the pledge, we ended our unity run and left the premise with goodwill and a strong mindset..
The 7 days residential camp was organised at our adopted village i.e Belwadi from Tuesday
22 nd February 2022 to 28 th February 2022. Altogether, there were 43 volunteers. The camp
had dual objectives,

On 4th December 2021, NSS Unit organised Blood Donation Drive in collaboration with Meenatai Thackery Blood Bank. Altogether, 75 donors contributed for the noble cause. The event was supported by Lions Club of Mahavir Nagar by giving goodies to donors.
The NSS Unit of Nirmala Memorial Foundation College celebrated Childrens' day with underprivileged children at Kalmacha Pada on Sunday, 21st November 2021. A workshop on pebble painting was organaised and children were given hands-on practise for the same. Children enjoyed the experience of pebble painting.
NSS unit of the college along with MCGM (Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai) organised a COVID -19 Vaccination drive on Saturday, 30th October 2021. Altogether, 67 people benefited through the drive.
Some NSS volunteers were associated with an NGO named Kushiyon ki Toli where volunteers were engaged in teaching activity to underprivileged children of Poisar. This activity was carried out for 2 months and 3 volunteers were involved in it.
NSS Unit donated 1 month grocery items to 10 needy families from Palghar district during COVID Pandemic. During winter season around 20 blankets were also distributed to underprivileged kids from nearby slum area.
The NSS unit had a tie up with Bisleri Company wherein, NSS volunteers were involved in collecting the plastic waste and submitting it to Bisleri Company. Around 50 kg of plastic waste was submitted by the NSS volunteers.
Our NSS volunteer Suyash was engaged in feeding stray dogs regularly and taking care of them during COVID pandemic. He also made a small shelter home near his society for these stray dogs. There were around 3-4 dogs.
NSS volunteers were involved in wall painting activity near Kandivali station. The wall was painted with different social messages to spread awareness among citizens. The project was undertaken with the objective of beautifying the surrounding.
NSS Unit celebrated Rakshabandhan Celebration with Police Force (SPRF) on 20th August 2021. Girl volunteers tied rakhi and had interaction with them. The Police force highly appreciated the gesture of volunteers. Around 8 volunteers were present for the event.

On 12th and 13th February 2020 NSS Unit along with MDRI team organised awareness and stem cell donor registry. Dr. Praveen, went class to class for spreading awareness about stem cell registry and on 13th February 2020 the samples were collected. Overall, 168 donors were registered. All the stakeholders actively participated in the donation drive.
The NSS Unit conducted 7 days residential camp at Bhalivali from 30th November to 6th December 2019. The unit has adopted Belvadi village to conduct various social activities. Around 50 volunteers actively participated in contributing towards society. Following activities were conducted.
A visit to Nityanand old-age and orphanage was arrange to sensitize the volunteers with the current scenario of society. Our NSS unit donated walker to oldies and books to children. They were happy to receive both. Around 15 volunteers were part of of this event.
On Thursday, 25th july 2019,NSS unit of our college organized blood donation drive along with meenatai blood bank and supoorted by lions club.The total blood bags collected by unit was 200. A huge response was received from students,volunteers and ex-students of the college.Donars were given refreshments,Donar cards,certificates and goodies. Around 80 volunteers worked dedicatedly to make the event successful and contribute to the society
The Road safety week was observed by NSS volunteers by having one to one interaction with bikers and telling them the safety measures to be followed while riding. A skit was also performed by volunteers to spread awareness. A sticker denoting phrase "someone is waiting for you" was also pasted on their vehicle. The programme was supported by police inspector of samta nagar police station and Rotary club members.
NSS unit of Nirmala Memorial Foundation College – Kandivali organised 7 days (6th to 12th January 2019) residential camp at Belvadi. This village has been adopted by the college and working for the betterment of villagers form last 2 years. This year following activities were carried out by the unit.
- Self defense and health hygiene session by team of NSS volunteers under the guidance of Prof. Rishabh Desai.
- Mr. Balaji Banate, NSS volunteer took a session on photography to develop the skills of selected students.
- Dr. Megha Juvekar, Programme Officer of NSS unit took a session on girls hygiene for girls studying form 8th to 12th std.
Around, 500 villagers are benefited due to these activities. It was a good practical learning for volunteers to contribute and make a difference in the life of villagers.
NSS unit organised a session on Cancer Awareness for students. A founder member of cancare NGO Mr. Sagir Deshmukh was invited to take the session. He spoke about precautions that can be taken and symptoms of cancer.Around 60 students were benefited from this session.
After realising a growing issue of road accidents among youth. NSS unit along with Rotrary club organised a session on Road Safety for students. Around 70 students were benefited out of it. Further, these students will be spreading awareness in near by vicinity during Road safety week.
On 23rd December 2018, NSS unit performed a skit spreading awareness about consuming organic food and support farmers to sustain their livelihood. A flyers were distributed to inform people the benefits of organic food. Around 15 volunteers were involved in it. The same was also covered by DNA Media.
On the occasion of Vijayadashmi, our NSS volunteers gave greeting cards and flowers to motorman, ticket checkers, station master, gangmen etc. The main objective was to appreciate their efforts for working during festive season. The area was covered from Dhaisar to Bhayandar and around 10 volunteers were involved in this activity.
A beach cleaning activity after ganpati immersion was conducted on 30th September 2018 at Dadar Chowpatty. NSS volunteers were engaged in collecting broken idols of ganesha and plastic from chowpatty. Later, the garbage was taken by BMC Marshall. Around 25 volunteers were involved in these activity.
On 29th September 2018 our volunteers in coordination with River March NGO spread awareness for cleaning river at Kranti Nagar, Kandivali. A message of keeping the environment clean was passed through skit. Volunteers went door to door to counsel residents of that locality and tell them to dump garbage in dustbins only. Around 12 volunteers were engaged in this activity.
A session on Hepatitis was organised for NSS volunteers in coordination with United Way NGO. Further, volunteers will make efforts to spread the same in our adopted area. Around 50 volunteers actively participated in the session.
NSS Unit of our college celebrated Rakshabandhan with special children (Mentally Challenged) of Shashi Manglam School, Goregoan. The volunteers tied rakhis and played games with those children. The main objective of the event was to sensitize volunteers with the difficulties faced special children. Though it was emotional it was a good learning experience for volunteers.
Today i.e.15th August 2018, along with Independence Day our NSS volunteers celebrated Thanksgiving Day too. A team of volunteers staying at Mira Road took special efforts to make greeting cards and thank those employees who serve the nation during holidays. Thank you cards were given to policeman, traffic police, sweepers and fire brigade officials. Volunteers also had one to one interaction where they appreciated and thanked them for their work. The people who received cards were touched by the gesture and gratitude shown by our volunteers.
It feels good to know someone is smiling because of you.
The management of Nirmala Memorial Foundation College of Commerce and Science, Kandivali donated a massage chair to Shri Nityanand Old Age Home. The chair will help old people to relieve their stress and relax their muscles. The founder member of the oldage home Mr. Rupesh Patil was highly obliged to receive a massage chair.
A 7 days residential camp was organised at Bhalivali, Virar and various social activities were conducted at Belvadi village.
Snake awareness session was conducted for volunteers and also for villagers.
To maintain the ecological balance and protect mother earth various eco friendly activities were conducted by NSS Unit of our college.
NSS Unit of our college has adopted BMC School, Poisar to conduct regular activities. Every day 8-10 volunteers visit the school and help weak students in their studies. Volunteers also motivate them to participate in various curricular activities
