The Entrepreneurship Development Cell recently orchestrated a captivating competition entitled 'Pitch Your Product: Leveraging the 4P’s of Marketing Mix’, on 28th January, 2025. This dynamic challenge invited students to unleash their entrepreneurial spirit by crafting innovative product concepts, meticulously orchestrated around the cornerstone principles of the marketing mix: Product, Price, Place, and Promotion. The competition served as a vibrant platform for students to hone their entrepreneurial acumen, showcasing their unique product ideas and demonstrating their ability to strategically leverage the 4Ps to achieve market dominance. The competition aimed to foster a culture of innovation and inspire students to translate their creative visions into viable business ventures.Participants were encouraged to think outside the box, develop a compelling value proposition, and articulate a robust go-to-market strategy.The esteemed Ms. Krishna Vora, an accomplished alumni of the college's BMS Department, (Batch 2021 - 22) was equally captivated by the students' impressive displays of entrepreneurial talent. As a seasoned marketer, Ms. Vora addressed the audience, providing invaluable insights and key takeaways for the students on effectively navigating the market and strategically positioning their product concepts. On account of National Handloom Day, the Entrepreneurship Development Cell of the college successfully hosted a seminar titled "Sustainable Fashion: Business Startup Ideas for Students" on Wednesday, 14th August, 2024 in Block no. 705 at 11:00 A.M. The guest speaker for the event was Mr. Nitesh Dwivedi (Educational Consultant and fashion entrepreneur). The event aimed to inspire and educate students about the potential of sustainable fashion as a business venture.The core of the seminar revolved around practical startup ideas for students. Participants were introduced to a range of possibilities. The session highlighted potential niche markets, the importance of developing unique value propositions, and the role of technology in driving sustainable fashion businesses. An activity initiated the explanation, which kept the students engaged throughout the session.Attendees gained insights into the environmental and social impact of the traditional fashion industry, which served as a catalyst for understanding the need for sustainable alternatives.The seminar generated significant interest among students in pursuing sustainable fashion as a business ventureThe speaker asked a few questions at the end of the session, and those who answered correctly were also given freebies. A total of 31 students benefited from the session.
To Commemorate International Chocolate Day, Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) organized “Chocolate Fiesta: A Chocolate Creativity Competition” on Saturday, 6th July 2024 at the college basement to inculcate business skills among the students. The objective was to promote entrepreneurial skills among the students through the chocolate fiesta in which 23 stalls were put up by students from FY, SY & TY from all the programmes to sell handmade chocolates and various delicacies of Chocolates, Cold coffee, Pastries, Brownies and a lot more. Ms. Pooja Desai, a passionate connoisseur of fine chocolates was the judge for the event. She very passionately and patiently observed all the stalls and their products. Along with evaluating students' performance she even gave them tips to improve their culinary, baking and marketing skills.
The Entrepreneurship Development Cell in association with Inner Wheel Club organised a Workshop titled “Rangavali- Rangoli with a twist” on Tuesday, 23rd January, 2024 from 11.30 am in Block No. 311. The Resource person of the said workshop was Ms. Asmita Dabholkar, an awardee of Manikarnika Amrita Sher-Gil Award 2022 and an origami artist. Aim of the workshop was to introduce the students to an out of the box art of rangoli making. In the workshop the students were introduced to a wonderful combination of origami and rangoli. In all a total of 24 Participants from different Programmes benefited from the workshop.
The Entrepreneurship Development Cell hosted an enriching seminar, "Venture Vista: Business Idea Generation," on Friday, 22nd December, 2023. The event provided valuable insights into crafting successful business ideas. The highlight of the seminar was Mr. Santosh Sahu, Chief Digital Officer at Digiterz, who shared his expertise on essential elements and the step-by-step process of developing a business idea from scratch. This proved to be an exciting opportunity for students to expand their entrepreneurial horizons, with an emphasis on practical knowledge and skills. The event was attended by 63 students. The seminar provided a valuable chance for attendees to enhance their entrepreneurial acumen and explore the foundations of turning innovative ideas into thriving businesses.
The Entrepreneurship Development Cell, in association with the Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension (DLLE), proudly presented an enlightening workshop on the mesmerizing art form of 'Lippan Art.' which was held on Friday, October 6th, 2023. This event was a celebration of creativity, culture, and community. Lippan Art, also known as Mud and Mirror Work, is a traditional Indian folk art that originates from the Kutch region of Gujarat. The workshop was a platform for participants to immerse themselves in this captivating craft and have their start-up. Participants had the opportunity to explore their artistic talents and bring to life the magic of mirrors and mud. The Resource Person for the workshop was Ms. Manjula Kamath, an experienced Fevicryl Professional artist. A total of 38 students benefited from the workshop.
The Entrepreneurship Development Cell of Nirmala Memorial Foundation College of Commerce and Science College organized a National level business event titled "Shark Tank on its way to Nirmala" on Monday, 10th April, 2023 at 11:30 a.m. The event, conducted online, 8 participants presented their business ideas. Mr. Aadesh Suryarao, a renowned startup mentor and incubation ecosystem advisor, who graced the occasion as the resource person. Mr. Suryarao, who has been leading the Mumbai University's Start-Up Incubator as the Chief Executive Officer, brought his vast experience and knowledge to evaluate each pitch and provide valuable feedback to the participants. The participants displayed exceptional confidence and professionalism as they presented their well-researched business plans, revenue models, and growth strategies. They also answered tough questions posed by Mr. Suryarao, who rigorously evaluated the feasibility and viability of the ideas and provided insights and suggestions for further improvement.
The Entrepreneurship Development Cell with Alumni Association of the college successfully conducted a National Level Webinar on the topic of "The Role of Technology in Entrepreneurship" on Saturday, 8th April 2023, at 11.30 a.m. The event featured Mr. Arjun Jani, an alumnus of NMFC and the Founder of The Entrepreneurs of India Company, as the guest speaker. The session covered a wide range of topics related to the importance of technology in entrepreneurship, including the role of technology in business model innovation, marketing, and customer acquisition. Mr. Jani shared his valuable insights and experiences on how technology has revolutionized the business world, and how entrepreneurs can leverage technology to scale their businesses. The interactive session allowed participants to ask questions and receive expert answers from Mr. Jani. The webinar was attended by more than 55 students and teachers who are interested in the world of business. The session was highly informative and insightful, providing participants with a deeper understanding of the role of technology in entrepreneurship.
The Entrepreneurship Development Cell of our college in association with the Inner Wheel Club of Bombay, Kandivali successfully organized a workshop on Kitchen Gardening titled "The Sustainable Kitchen: A Guide to Starting Your Own Garden". The event took place on Thursday, 6th April, 2023 at 11.30 a.m. in the Mini Auditorium (Block No. 706). The event was well-attended by enthusiastic 40 participants who were keen to learn about the art of growing vegetables and herbs in limited spaces, with the aim of promoting sustainable living. The resource person for the event was Ms. Nusrat Khatri, a well-known expert in the field of sustainable living and recipient of the “Indira Gandhi Paryavaran Puraskar 2007” National Award. Ms. Khatri was able to provide participants with essential skills and knowledge about soil preparation, container gardening techniques, seed sowing and plant care. The participants were captivated by Ms. Khatri's deep knowledge and expertise in the field of gardening, and they were able to ask her questions and clarify their doubts during the session. The workshop was interactive, and Ms. Khatri made sure to include practical demonstrations to illustrate her points. The participants were able to witness the techniques being used in real-time and gained a deeper understanding of the process. The event was a huge success, and participants were empowered and inspired to start their own kitchen gardens.
The Entrepreneurship Development Cell of Nirmala Memorial Foundation College of Commerce and Science successfully conducted a National level workshop on cake making titled “Decorate your cake: From Basic to Pro" on Wednesday, 5th April, 2023. The workshop was conducted online and saw more than 90 participants from various parts of the country. The session was led by the expert chef and owner of Yuvi's Kitchen, Kandivali, Ms. Swati Tikmany. The participants were guided through the entire process of cake making, starting from preparing the batter to decorating the finished product. Ms. Tikmany shared valuable tips and tricks that she has learnt through her experience in the industry. She also demonstrated how to create various designs and decorations that could be used to make the cakes more appealing. The workshop was highly interactive, with the participants asking questions and clarifying doubts throughout the session. The enthusiasm and interest shown by the participants were remarkable, which made the session even more engaging. At the end of the session, all the participants were awarded an E-certificate for their active participation in the workshop. The event was a great success and has equipped the participants with the essential skills and knowledge required to start their own cake making business.

The session was conducted online, and more than 70 students attended the webinar. The guest speaker for the session was Mr. Aadesh Suryarao, a well-known startup mentor and incubation ecosystem advisor who has been leading the Mumbai University's Start-Up Incubator as the Chief Executive Officer. In this informative session, Mr. Suryarao shared valuable insights and tips on crafting successful business ideas. During the session, Mr. Suryarao highlighted the essential elements of a successful business idea and how to develop one from scratch. He shared various examples of successful startups and explained how they started with a simple idea and built their businesses over time. The session also included a Q&A session, where participants had the opportunity to ask questions and clarify their doubts. All participants who attended the webinar were awarded E-certificates, recognizing their participation in the event. The session was well-received by the students who attended, and they appreciated the insights shared by Mr. Suryarao. They found the session informative and engaging and left the session with a better understanding of how to develop successful business ideas.
The Entrepreneur Development Cell of Nirmala College of Commerce and Science organised a Seminar titled "How to make a good business Plan" on Tuesday, 6th September 2022 at 12.00 Noon. The Guest speaker was Mr Deepak Rai, Founder & Director of the RAIGURUKUL.COM, and a visiting faculty at IIMs and IITS A total of 72 participants participated. The session benefited the audience to get an idea on procedure for a start up.There was also an elaborate question and answer session. The students were thrilled and requested to organise such sessions more.
Amidst the COVID-19 situation where everyone is confined to their homes as a public health measure for containment and mitigation of the pandemic outbreak, the college decided to set a platform for experts and renowned entrepreneurs to come together and create a data-rich environment for budding entrepreneurs and those who are interested in going for a start-up but have little knowledge about how to proceed. M.Com Department , Entrepreneur Development Cell jointly with Incubation Centre of the college organized a webinar on ‘Impact on Entrepreneur and Startups after COVID 19’, on Thursday, 7th May 2020 at 4:00 pm.A total number of 98 M.Com learners participated in the program. Industrialist Mr. Indrajit Singh Arora is the guest speaker.
The college was glad to announce that the guest speaker was a parent of a students studying in our own college in sybms . This shows parents who are equally important stakeholder of the college, do contribute in college development.The talk of Mr Singh gave a direction to learners on how to chanelise their thoughts and ideas and showed a pathway to execute the same.
