The NSS Unit, in association with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Kandivali, conducted an informative Dengue and Malaria Awareness Programme on Wednesday, 16th July 2025, aimed at educating volunteers on the prevention and control of mosquito-borne diseases.
During the session, BMC officials provided valuable insights into identifying the mosquitoes responsible for spreading dengue and malaria. Volunteers were briefed on the symptoms, modes of transmission, and—most importantly—preventive measures to curb the spread of these illnesses. The session highlighted the critical role of hygiene, sanitation, and community responsibility in maintaining a disease-free environment.
A key focus of the programme was educating participants on eliminating stagnant water sources, which are prime breeding grounds for mosquitoes. The session also encouraged volunteers to actively participate in spreading awareness within their communities to foster healthier and safer living conditions. 21 NSS volunteers attended the session and gained practical knowledge that will help them contribute meaningfully to community health initiatives.
