Bloom's Taxonomy: A Blueprint for Effective Learning Objectives

The IQAC Department of the college organised a seminar titled, “Bloom's Taxonomy: A Blueprint for Effective Learning Objectives," on 08th October, 2024 in Lab No. 01 for the teaching faculty members. The speaker of the session was Dr. Megha Gokhe - Principal and Ms. Payal S. Batavia - Assistant Professor (Thakur Shyamanarayan College of Education and Research). The seminar focused on using Bloom's Taxonomy as a framework for developing clear and measurable learning objectives. In addition to explaining the traditional taxonomy, the seminar highlighted the role of gamification and digital tools in applying these concepts effectively.

Dr. Megha covered the six cognitive levels—Remembering, Understanding, Applying, Analyzing, Evaluating, Creating—and how the updated version emphasizes "Creating" as the highest skill.

The speaker introduced strategies for using game-based learning to engage students at various cognitive levels and introduced digital tools, such as interactive platforms and assessment apps, that support educators in creating and evaluating learning objectives according to Bloom's Taxonomy. Tools like Edpuzzle, Render Forest were recommended for applying gamification in classrooms.

A total of 43 participants were able to benefit from the seminar and acquire practical skills to implement these strategies in their teaching, resulting in more dynamic and measurable learning objectives.
